PROPEL Announces Its 2014 PROPEL Business Plan Competition (Applications Due June 10) and Its Grant Program for AdvaMed 2014 (Applications Due June 30)
2014 PROPEL Business Plan Competition: Applications Now Available, Due June 10, 2014
The PROPEL Center at the iBIO Institute is pleased to announce the sixth annual PROPEL Business Plan Competition to spotlight the many formation-stage and early-stage life sciences companies of Illinois and the surrounding Midwest. Applicants for this highly selective entrepreneurial competition will compete for a $10,000 cash award. Competition finals will be held on August 5, 2014 at the Chicago Innovation Showcase.
Competitors will be judged on the opportunity of the technology in the market and how clearly and concisely the company articulates the business opportunity. To determine the finalists, Illinois life sciences community members will assess applications. At the finals, finalists will be judged by investors on a short presentation (plus a limited time for Q&A). The winner will be announced at the Chicago Innovation Showcase.
This competition is not only a chance to win a cash award, but also a terrific opportunity to have your company’s business plan reviewed and commented on by industry professionals.

A company must meet ALL of the following criteria to apply:
- Main company offices/staff in Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Ohio or Wisconsin
- Life sciences company or a current or past PROPEL company
- Pre-revenue stage or revenue of less than $2 million in 2013
- Legal entity formed by June 1, 2014
- The Company is not a previous winner of a PROPEL Business Plan competition

Grant Applications for Reduced Registration to AdvaMed 2014 Now Being Accepted, Due June 30, 2014
The PROPEL Center of the iBIO Institute is proud to announce its Grant Program for AdvaMed 2014 for Illinois-based life sciences startups to assist with registration fees for AdvaMed 2014, October 6 – 8, 2014. This program, part of AdvaMed's Emerging Growth Company Scholarships, will provide grants for both fully paid and partially paid a) full access registration to the AdvaMed 2014 conference and b) company presentation fees at AdvaMed 2014 (only for those companies accepted to present by AdvaMed).
There will be up to four different grants awarded. The number of grants awarded in each category will depend on the number of eligible applications and the number of companies accepted by AdvaMed to formally present. PROPEL does not control AdvaMed’s selection process.
1. A fully paid grant to attend AdvaMed 2014
2. A partial grant to attend AdvaMed 2014
3. A fully paid grant of the company presentation fees of AdvaMed 2014 (for those accepted by AdvaMed)
4. A partial grant of the company presentation fees of AdvaMed 2014 (for those accepted by AdvaMed)
