|iBIO Government Affairs Policies|
Early in iBIO’s history, our organization focused more or less exclusively on legislative and regulatory issues that directly affect the agricultural, medical, and bio-industrial sectors. In recent years, iBIO’s management and board of directors came to realize that there are also general (or "macro”) policy issues whose resolution will determine the success or failure of our mission.
It will not be possible to make the Midwest region one of the top biotech centers on earth if our schools are failing, or if the State of Illinois is in a bankrupt fiscal condition. This policy document, therefore, commits our association to support not only important biotech principles—strong intellectual property protection, science-based regulation, and promotion of innovation—but also necessary macro reforms upon which the ultimate success of our mission depends.
